Three months later...

Three months after Aidan was born we were shocked to discover that we were pregnant again. After all the work to get Aidan, Brady just happened. It is said to be easier to get pregnant the second time if you have PCOS, for me this was true. The pregnancy flew by, probably because I had a baby to take care of and we slept through it. I still had extreme morning sickness but craved frozen burritos. With Aidan all I craved was crispy chiken salads, which daddy would make and bring to me at work, and ham sandwiches. After the second pregnancy I would go onto craving swiss cake rolls and coke...not a healthy breakfast!
Brady was a scheduled c-section, it was stress free but I still had the low blood pressure/high heart rate that I had with Aidan. Usually the docs make the hubby stay out while they prep for surgery, instead Michael was rushed into the room to be at my side.
I hated leaving my little baby Aidan at home while I was in the hospital with Brady, I felt so guilty! It was so wonderful the first time around to be with my new baby and my hubby. We would just stay in order brownies and stare at Aidan. I was alone with Brady, we had just weaned Aidan from the botttle so Michael stayed at home with him. I ended up leaving a day early after talking to the doc on rounds who agreed I was more than fine to go home. Two babies are much more work than just one baby...but twice the fun.

Beautiful Baby Boy

The thing I remember most about my first pregnancy was how scary it was. After all the work it took to get pregnant I started bleeding and cramping in the first trimester and it lasted for about 2 months. I was constantly afraid I was going to lose my precious miracle. I also lost about 10 more pounds because my morning sickness was so extreme. I finally started gaining weight at about 5 months, which relieved my doc who was worried but didn't let me know until I started gaining weight.
The end of my pregnancy was very painful. I had to cut back my hours and rest. At my last regular appointment with my doc he was so startled my the way that my stomach was hard and the position of Aidan that he rushed to get me an ultrasound. I was having contractions and you could see his little body wedged sideways. It was rather creepy.
At 38 weeks my doc decided to induce, due to the extreme pain and position of the baby. I finally had an epidural at 5 centimeters. I don't tolerate epidurals well, ended up having some strange reactions to it. At one point I looked up and there was a room full of doctors and nurses surrounding me, including one who was hooking me up for an EKG. My blood pressure was low and my heartbeat was faster than the baby's, which is apparently not good.I never dilated more than 5 centimeters, as it turns out Aidan was actually lodged against my pelvic bone. His little ear was even bent funny from being stuck for so long, probably a few weeks. So, I had a c-section, which was not fun.
He was perfect. One of the best memories I will ever have is of Michael's face seeing our little baby for the first time. He gasped, fought back tears and smiled from ear to ear. Breathless.

Itty Bitty Adventure Begins

Our adventure began much as many adventures begin, with a lot of planning. Once we were diagnosed with PCOS, cysts on the ovaries which prevent ovulation, we were more determined than ever to get pregnant. I would have never imagined the amount of work it would take on my part, but it was well worth it looking back. I lost 10 pounds, began a medication that made me so sick I lost 10 more pounds and charted my temp every morning.
Knowing that we could only control so much, my wonderful husband suggested we turn it over to God and pray. It is a big step in our life to start praying together out loud. We prayed at home, we prayed at church, we prayed hourly.
I bought a pregnancy test at the end of the first month, knowing that I was just taking it so I could take my next medication, the one that would start my period. I set down the little stick and went about my business getting ready for work. I picked it up and looked at it ready to toss it, then realized it was positive! I didn't call Michael right away, I was afraid it was the medication tricking the test. So after I got to work and called the doctors office and was assured it was not the medication, I called my hubby. He was delighted.
