Three months later...

Three months after Aidan was born we were shocked to discover that we were pregnant again. After all the work to get Aidan, Brady just happened. It is said to be easier to get pregnant the second time if you have PCOS, for me this was true. The pregnancy flew by, probably because I had a baby to take care of and we slept through it. I still had extreme morning sickness but craved frozen burritos. With Aidan all I craved was crispy chiken salads, which daddy would make and bring to me at work, and ham sandwiches. After the second pregnancy I would go onto craving swiss cake rolls and coke...not a healthy breakfast!
Brady was a scheduled c-section, it was stress free but I still had the low blood pressure/high heart rate that I had with Aidan. Usually the docs make the hubby stay out while they prep for surgery, instead Michael was rushed into the room to be at my side.
I hated leaving my little baby Aidan at home while I was in the hospital with Brady, I felt so guilty! It was so wonderful the first time around to be with my new baby and my hubby. We would just stay in order brownies and stare at Aidan. I was alone with Brady, we had just weaned Aidan from the botttle so Michael stayed at home with him. I ended up leaving a day early after talking to the doc on rounds who agreed I was more than fine to go home. Two babies are much more work than just one baby...but twice the fun.

Beautiful Baby Boy

The thing I remember most about my first pregnancy was how scary it was. After all the work it took to get pregnant I started bleeding and cramping in the first trimester and it lasted for about 2 months. I was constantly afraid I was going to lose my precious miracle. I also lost about 10 more pounds because my morning sickness was so extreme. I finally started gaining weight at about 5 months, which relieved my doc who was worried but didn't let me know until I started gaining weight.
The end of my pregnancy was very painful. I had to cut back my hours and rest. At my last regular appointment with my doc he was so startled my the way that my stomach was hard and the position of Aidan that he rushed to get me an ultrasound. I was having contractions and you could see his little body wedged sideways. It was rather creepy.
At 38 weeks my doc decided to induce, due to the extreme pain and position of the baby. I finally had an epidural at 5 centimeters. I don't tolerate epidurals well, ended up having some strange reactions to it. At one point I looked up and there was a room full of doctors and nurses surrounding me, including one who was hooking me up for an EKG. My blood pressure was low and my heartbeat was faster than the baby's, which is apparently not good.I never dilated more than 5 centimeters, as it turns out Aidan was actually lodged against my pelvic bone. His little ear was even bent funny from being stuck for so long, probably a few weeks. So, I had a c-section, which was not fun.
He was perfect. One of the best memories I will ever have is of Michael's face seeing our little baby for the first time. He gasped, fought back tears and smiled from ear to ear. Breathless.

Itty Bitty Adventure Begins

Our adventure began much as many adventures begin, with a lot of planning. Once we were diagnosed with PCOS, cysts on the ovaries which prevent ovulation, we were more determined than ever to get pregnant. I would have never imagined the amount of work it would take on my part, but it was well worth it looking back. I lost 10 pounds, began a medication that made me so sick I lost 10 more pounds and charted my temp every morning.
Knowing that we could only control so much, my wonderful husband suggested we turn it over to God and pray. It is a big step in our life to start praying together out loud. We prayed at home, we prayed at church, we prayed hourly.
I bought a pregnancy test at the end of the first month, knowing that I was just taking it so I could take my next medication, the one that would start my period. I set down the little stick and went about my business getting ready for work. I picked it up and looked at it ready to toss it, then realized it was positive! I didn't call Michael right away, I was afraid it was the medication tricking the test. So after I got to work and called the doctors office and was assured it was not the medication, I called my hubby. He was delighted.

Anniversary?

I believe today is our 3rd anniversary, but my mind is clouded with diapers and bottles and spit up...oh my. When I first met Michael I was in the 4th grade, we were in class together, although he doesn't remember me at all. We were on the playground in line to play four square and he was in front of me and I remember quite distinctly his black hair and big rimmed glasses. He was such a dork, but I have always been into the dorky type. Every guy I have ever dated has been quite dorky. Anyway, he re-caught my eye in the 7th grade after he and a girl on the bus "broke up" and I told her I was going to date him. She was kinda mad, but I didn't care.
By this time he had added braces to his teeth and upped his dorky factor by 25%, which made me think he was even more cute. He may have been dorky, but he was quite the player and had many girlfriends, cute ones. I finally did catch his eye, well probably my overdeveloped parts, but he finally started calling me on the phone and asking me out to the skating rink and movies. We had our first kiss at Skate World right before I left. I have not been parted from those lips for more than three months at a time since that first kiss. We have dated other people, but we have always had each other and have been great friends. I know him and have grown with him and have hated him and loved him...
We attended almost every dance together, even one in college. He walked me down the football field for homecoming, we clapped for each other at graduation, and I have stood by him through two funerals. I can tell him every thought I am thinking, although most of the time I don't even have to. I am so blessed to have my best friend as my husband. Love you hubby.
