Beautiful Baby Boy
The thing I remember most about my first pregnancy was how scary it was. After all the work it took to get pregnant I started bleeding and cramping in the first trimester and it lasted for about 2 months. I was constantly afraid I was going to lose my precious miracle. I also lost about 10 more pounds because my morning sickness was so extreme. I finally started gaining weight at about 5 months, which relieved my doc who was worried but didn't let me know until I started gaining weight.
The end of my pregnancy was very painful. I had to cut back my hours and rest. At my last regular appointment with my doc he was so startled my the way that my stomach was hard and the position of Aidan that he rushed to get me an ultrasound. I was having contractions and you could see his little body wedged sideways. It was rather creepy.
At 38 weeks my doc decided to induce, due to the extreme pain and position of the baby. I finally had an epidural at 5 centimeters. I don't tolerate epidurals well, ended up having some strange reactions to it. At one point I looked up and there was a room full of doctors and nurses surrounding me, including one who was hooking me up for an EKG. My blood pressure was low and my heartbeat was faster than the baby's, which is apparently not good.I never dilated more than 5 centimeters, as it turns out Aidan was actually lodged against my pelvic bone. His little ear was even bent funny from being stuck for so long, probably a few weeks. So, I had a c-section, which was not fun.
He was perfect. One of the best memories I will ever have is of Michael's face seeing our little baby for the first time. He gasped, fought back tears and smiled from ear to ear. Breathless.
